Call for Resumes: ASM and Technician Positions

Theater J, the nation’s premier Jewish theater company, seeks individuals to work in various ASM and technician positions for upcoming productions.

The largest arts program of the Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center (EDCJCC), Theater J is entering its 31st season in the newly renovated JCC and a refreshed Aaron & Cecile Goldman Theater, a 236-seat proscenium stage. We are a professional theater that celebrates, explores, and struggles with the complexities and nuances of both the Jewish experience and the universal human condition. Positions include:

• Assistant stage manager, $16.50/hour
o Called for all or most rehearsals and performances of a production (6-9 weeks per show)
o Non-equity; seasonal employee

• Strike and load-in crew, $17-$18.50/hour depending upon experience
o Hourly calls 5-6 times per year, with a four-hour minimum call
o Specific hourly rate to be set at time of offer
o Contractor

• Light board programmer, $20/hour
o Hourly calls 4-5 times per year at tech or previews, with a four-hour minimum call
o Contractor

• Sound board operator, $17/hour
o Hourly calls during the run of one or more productions, beginning at tech (4-5 weeks), with a four-hour minimum call

o Contractor
• Prop artisan, $17/hour
o Over-hire calls as needed on productions, with a four-hour minimum call
o Contractor

Housing is not available for these positions.

Theater J expects the following of each employee: adheres to Edlavitch DCJCC policies and procedures outlined in the Edlavitch DCJCC Employee Handbook; works in a safe manner; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; and completes other duties as assigned.
